Nukka is being raised

Found a “golden oldie”. A nice example of dog behaviour. Puppy Nukka wants to have an apple but Qanik is holding her back… see for yourself and too bad sound is missing.

No Pedigree Dentastix for our dogs… they clean their teeth with large, larger, largest bones!

Last saturday the passenger seat on the training cart was reserved by my mom and we took her on a nice tour for about 10 kilometres. She enjoyed the experience!

DNS and DNF

Trans Thüringia 2011: Team Sukattuq Did Not Start and Did Not Finish. Our arrival in Neustadt am Rennsteig was cold, very cold with a temperature of -6 degrees. After 2 days of thick fog and a freezing cold wind, the wheather changed dramatically and brought a warm storm our adventure to an end. At Saterday morning the stake-out had turned green. The opening ceremony at Saturday was a closing ceremony at the same time… Nobody could foresee this happening: our respect to the organisation!

Since the BIG BANG in de woods of “Het Kuinderbos” our training cart is now really breaking down… No time for a thoroughly repair because our tours must go on.

Fortunately we found a pair of “new” backwheels meaning we had to give up our handbrakes… that’s quite inconvenient. The foot-brake brings the cart to a halt, we only have to regard a very long braking path… quite inconvenient and caused a crash already.

Since last weekend the steering-gear shows defects. A never ending story. Only 1,5 week to go to the Trans Thüringia!

We‘re thinking about a new cart, a bootcamp proof one…

Frauenwald

A very happy New Year in good health!

We visited the stake-out in our beloved Frauenwald again with the intention to do some long trail training to get prepared for the upcoming Trans Thuringia. Unfortunately… no lack of snow but too much snow. No trails or ski runs and fallen down trees: a challenge for mushers and dogs. Dog sledding became deep-snow-sledding. Nevertheless, we learned our team is headstrong and has the endurance. Again it was a week filled with joy and hilarity together with our dear musher friends at “our” mountain. Only a 4 weeks left for the Trans Thuringia… we are looking out for the Tour!

Sledding home for Christmas…

Turn the music on and enjoy!

To be honest (and as you can see) sledding is still impossible so we toured by cart. It sufficed, but it was slippery here and there what unfortunately resulted in more damage to the cart. Nevertheless… 26 kilometres by -7 degrees was to shiver.

Kuinderbos 11 & 12 december 2010

After a smashing start at saturday…

This wheel caused a big BANG at the woods of “Het Kuinderbos”.

And despite the DNF behind Robert’s name (“did not finish”) I thought his finish was cool. No harm was done to dogs and musher.

A great revanche on Sunday with a lent cart (we owe you one Frans, thanks again) so Robert could finish his tour of 22 kilometres. They did great!
